Award-winning UK Gospel artist Esther Farinde is on a mission to touch lives and bring hope with her debut single, You Called Me.
You Called Me is the first single released from Esther Farinde’s forthcoming debut EP, produced by the Whiteblock Group.
You Called Me feels like the essential black dress of ballads, that everyone must have in their music collection, crucial for that long Saturday afternoon summer drive. Fresh, airy and crammed with rich harmonies.
A jazz and traditional gospel blend, It’s full of conviction and promise that will inspire hope to everyone who hears it. The result, Farinde says, of holding onto the promise when it feels like the dream in your heart is for someone else and not you.
“As a pastor’s daughter, God and the church is all I know”, says Farinde: “when you have a dream and it feels like it’s slipping away it’s tough sometimes to smile through it, particularly when everybody expects you to. You called me comes from embracing the uncertainty and pain of being in God’s waiting room. Watching as other people’s dreams and desires come to fruition and wondering when it will be your turn.”
Farinde is passionate and unswerving in her commitment to God and his people and serves as the praise and worship leader in her local church.
The seventh of ten children Esther grew up in a huge family and started singing when she was four.
“It has never been about fame”, says the thirty-three-year-old wife and mother of two, my family has always come first. I truly believe God is raising up a generation of young people who must know that no matter what the circumstance they have been called by God. Circumstances don’t change an unchanging God who is the same yesterday, today and forever. Essential to my ministry is ensuring the next generation of worship leaders understand this.
“Sometimes we need to speak to that mountain and just tell it, God called me. It’s not always prayer. Sometimes it’s a straightforward declaration of faith that triggers progress. It’s what is on the inside of you that speaks of the greatness of God not what is going on around you. That’s what You Called me is all about,” says the singer-songwriter.
Farinde, has big plans for 2018 and is looking forward to the release of her debut album later in the year. As well as embarking on a nationwide tour of UK churches.
